RAJA AMPAT DIVE SITES

Besides being home to large schools of fish and various species of shark, blue magic is also one of the reefs most visited by oceanic manta rays.

One of the most requested dive sites in Raja Ampat for a reason! The diversity in fish life here is second only to Cape Kri. White tip reef sharks, hunting trevally, pygmy seahorses and schooling batfish are only a few of the highlights that await divers at this extraordinary site.

A drift dive that although mostly known for its macro life, is also visited regularly by large schools of fish going too and from Cape Kri. A great site for a nice easy relaxing drift dive where the current can do the work for you.

Named after the son of Papua Diving's founder, Mike's Point is a reef that is known for its large over hangs which are home to beautiful soft corals and sweetlips. On the reeftop, divers are greeted by large schools of fish schooling over the shallow corals.

Located between Kri and Koh Island, cross over is a reef that is rich in both coral and fish life due to the supply of nutrients brought in by the currents flowing through the Dampier Strait. bumphead parrotfish are often seen feeding on the corals here as well as blacktip reef sharks that like to swim by.

One of the special dives in Raja Ampat where there is little to no current, a huge diversity of fish life and beautifully healthy coral. With its giant green turtles and schooling jacks in the shallows, Sawandarek is a dive site that you'll surely want to dive more than once!

As one of the larger reefs in Raja Ampat, chicken reef can be divided into 4 smaller dive sites: chicken reef, chicken bay, sleeping barracuda and surgeonfish slope. With so many sites in one location it has something for everyone whether it be little or large marine life or varying strengths of current.

A shallow reef with a steep drop off where divers use reef hooks to hold steady while manta rays cruise effortlessly in the current.

An underwater sea mount with a cleaning station that is at times visited by the oceanic (giant) manta rays. Large schools of barracuda, snapper and fusiliers all give this site a lively atmosphere while Kuhl's rays lay calmly, dotted about on the sandy bottom.

Mostly known for its macro life, Otdima is also home to a special group of sweetlips that like to congregate under a small rock surrounded by pygmy sweeper fish. This alone makes it a favorite for photographers of all skill levels.

Located in the channel leading to Gam Bay, 5 rocks is a site best known for its macro life and soft corals. An easy dive and a great place to take your time looking for the smaller critters on the reef.

An original WW2 Plane wreck that is completely intact, a rare site for any diver! Starting at 26m and going down to 33m, it lies on a gentle slope covered in a myriad of soft corals. Once the wreck has been fully explored, divers then move up the pristine coral slope continuing their dive until reaching the safety stop.
